Activated alumina has good adsorption capacity, strong surface activity and excellent thermal stability, so it has been widely used, which is closely related to the raw material composition of activated alumina. There are two raw materials for its production, one is "quick de-powder" produced from gibbsite or bayerite, and the other is pseudo-boehmite produced from aluminate or aluminum salt or both. The production of these two raw materials is introduced separately.
1. Production of x-ρ alumina X-ρ alumina is the main raw material for the production of activated alumina. Abbreviated as FCA abroad, it is called "fast powder removal" in China because it is alumina powder produced by rapid dehydration. "Instant release powder" is a mixture of x-alumina and rho-alumina, and the content is different due to different production conditions.
two. Production methods of pseudoboehmite Natural or artificial alumina monohydrate and alumina trihydrate cannot be used as desiccants, adsorbents, catalysts and catalyst supports because of their low specific surface area, small pore volume and low activity. Alumina monohydrate or alumina trihydrate needs to be processed into pseudoboehmite. Pseudo-boehmite has high specific surface area, large pore volume, large pore size and high activity, and is suitable for use as desiccant, adsorbent, catalyst and catalyst carrier in petrochemical, fertilizer and exhaust fields.
The above is the classification of activated alumina raw materials. Only if we handle these two materials correctly can we improve their quality and make them work better when synthesizing our products.
