The effect of activated alumina balls in adsorption dryers
The term "pressure dew point" (PDP) in air compressors is used to describe the water content in compressed air. The pressure dew point is the temperature at which water vapor condenses into water at the current operating pressure. A lower PDP value means less water vapor in the compressed air.
Activated alumina ball desiccant and molecular sieve adsorbent are used to adsorb water vapor in the air to reduce the water content in compressed air.
We can choose the main type of drying equipment according to the pressure dew point, but when considering the cost, the lower the required dew point, the higher the investment and operating costs of air drying. There are currently five technologies used to remove moisture from compressed air: cooling plus separation, refrigerated dryers, secondary compression, membrane drying, and adsorption drying. The adsorption tower of the adsorption desiccant is filled with activated alumina ball desiccant and molecular sieve adsorbent. Adsorption and regeneration are carried out alternately, which can avoid long-term adsorption and cause saturation of adsorbed water molecules, thus prolonging the service life of the desiccant.
The comparison between adsorption dryer and cold dryer:
1. From the perspective of dryness, the dewatering performance of the adsorption dryer is better than that of the cold dryer, and it can remove a large amount of water. The pressure dew point of the Biten adsorption dryer can reach -20°C to -70°C.
2. From the point of view of energy consumption, the cold dryer is better than the adsorption dryer. The cold dryer does not require regeneration gas consumption, while the adsorption dryer consumes part of the gas consumption during the regeneration process, which will increase the operating cost.
3. From the perspective of the air environment, the adsorption dryer is better than the cold dryer. The adsorption dryer uses polymer sieve adsorbent, which has no pollution to the air. The cold dryer uses Freon, which will damage the atmosphere and affect the atmospheric environment.
4. In terms of price, cold dryers are cheaper than adsorption dryers.
5. From the point of view of the production process, the adsorption dryer is better than the cold dryer. The adsorption dryer can produce compressed air of different quality according to the different requirements of the production process for compressed air. For example, a dryer with a pressure dew point of -20°C, a dryer with a pressure dew point of -40°C and a dryer with a pressure dew point of -70°C.
