In the petrochemical production process, chlorine in the raw gas can poison various catalysts and adsorbents, causing the adsorbents and catalysts to fail and seriously corrode the equipment, so dechlorination treatment is necessary. Activated alumina dechlorinator is a highly efficient adsorption material commonly used to remove chlorides from gas or liquid. It is widely used in petrochemical, natural gas processing, refrigerant purification and other fields due to its high specific surface area, rich pore structure and surface active sites.
Dechlorination Mechanism
Physical adsorption: Relying on the pore structure to capture chlorine molecules (such as Cl₂, HCl).
Chemical adsorption:
Reacts with HCl to form aluminum chloride oxide or aluminum chloride.
Reaction example:
Al2O3+6HCl→2AlCl3+3H2OAl2O3+6HCl→2AlCl3+3H2O
Catalysis: Some organic chlorine (such as CH₂Cl₂) can be catalytically decomposed on the surface.
Application areas
Petrochemicals: Remove HCl from cracked gas and reformed hydrogen to protect downstream catalysts.
Natural gas processing: Remove chlorine impurities from mined gas to prevent pipeline corrosion.
Refrigerant recovery: Purify chlorine residues in refrigerants such as Freon.
Others: High-purity gas purification in the electronics industry, dechlorination of wastewater, etc.
Conditions of use
Temperature range: room temperature 5~400℃.
Pressure: normal pressure~0.8 MPa, to be adjusted according to the process.
Air velocity: 1000-3000h-1.
Chlorine removal rate: ≥99.9%.
Features of dechlorinating agent
Even activity at high and low temperatures
Good water resistance and high strength
Active components that are not easy to move after reaction
Wide range of applications
Storage
During transportation, the product should be protected from moisture, rolling, falling and severe vibration, and rain protection facilities should be provided.
It should be stored in a dry and ventilated warehouse to prevent contamination and moisture.
